Overview:

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Job location: Torrance, CA

Salary: $82,000-$95,000/yr 

 

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced manufacturing engineering professional at our Torrance, California location.  In this position, you will provide operational support for our Traveling Wave Tube (TWT) manufacturing areas and help maintain flow on the production floor.  You’ll work with the area management to compile relevant information regarding production status for customer use.  In addition, you will drive continuous improvement projects for manufacturing and engineering systems via lean/six sigma methodologies, process mapping, and simulation modeling, and develop new assembly processes and systems to eliminate waste, streamline processes, and reduce cost. Responsibilities will include:

 

Responsibilities:
  • Implement and analyze manufacturing plans and projects 
  • Design, develop and transfer manufacturing and engineering tools, strategies and systems
  • Develop manufacturing strategies for specific products and processes 
  • Interface with engineering in coordinating the release of new products 
  • Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines 
  • Maintain records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations
Qualifications:
  • Must hold a BS or higher in a relevant engineering or technical discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent). Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience supporting mechanical and/or electrical manufacturing processes. Other qualifications include:
    • Demonstrated computer proficiency using Microsoft Office application
    • Requires the ability to work in a fast-moving environment under tight schedules and coordinate multiple tasks effectively.
    • Must be able to perform technical problem-solving and work closely with production personnel.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
    • Ability to create and update assembly instructions and in-process record forms is required.
    • Knowledge of joining processes, such as brazing and welding, is preferred.
    • Knowledge of assembly processes, tooling, and print reading (GD&T) are required.
    • Knowledge of bills of material, routings and assembly instruction development are required.
    • Knowledge of computer programming languages (example: MATLAB, Visual Basic, CREO Parametric, Solidworks, or PHP) is desirable.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze design issues and develop tooling concepts in real time is preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to capture and analyze data related to yield and cycle time is required.
