- The Fitness Center Youth Development Professional is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising physical fitness programs and activities that promote the health, wellness, and development of youth ages 13-17. This role fosters a safe, positive, and engaging environment where members can build confidence, develop healthy habits, and learn the importance of physical activity
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
· Program Delivery
- Design and lead age-appropriate fitness programs (strength, cardio, flexibility, sports skills).
- Implement BGCA national programs and health initiatives
- Organize individual and group fitness activities and games
· Youth Engagement
- Inspire and motivate youth to participate in regular physical activity.
- Build meaningful relationships with members and serve as a positive role model.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment.
· Facility Oversight
- Supervise all activities in the fitness center to ensure safety and proper equipment use.
- Maintain cleanliness and order of equipment and workout areas.
- Monitor youth for appropriate behavior and resolve conflicts constructively.
· Administrative Support
- Track attendance and participation for reporting purposes.
- Support evaluations and surveys to assess program impact.
- Assist with special events, field trips, and Club-wide initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor’s degree in physical education, kinesiology, youth development, or related field preferred.
- Experience working with youth in a recreational, fitness, or afterschool setting.
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or able obtain within 30 days).
- Knowledge of fitness equipment and safe workout practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and lead diverse groups of youth.
- Must have ACE CPT Personal Trainer Certification or able to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Must be able to obtain OSHA 10 Certification within 30 days of employment.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and demonstrate physical activities.
- Active, hands-on supervision required throughout shift.
- Ability to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
