Position Summary

Assists the Director of the Student Success Center in the day-to-day operations and all programming offered by the Student Success Center. Coordinate the Student Success Center’s tutoring program comprised of approximately 35 peer tutors. Provide academic advising and support for students in the Academic Interest and Major Exploration Program. Provide additional support to SSC as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Student Success Center Operations 

  • Assist the Director of the Student Success Center in the day-to-day operations and all programming offered by the Student Success Center. 
  • Provide support to testing center operations, including placement testing support as needed. 

KCP 4s Connections Program 

  • Provide support to KCP Connections Program by coordinating PERTS program with College Life Coach. 
  • Contribute to quarterly and annual reporting as needed. 
  • Attend Equity Within the Classroom annual conference. 

Student Success Center Tutoring Program 

  • Recruit, train, and supervise UDM’s undergraduate tutoring program comprised of approximately 35 peer tutors. 
  • Coordinate on line and in-person training program for tutors. 
  • Develop and maintain tutoring policies and procedures. 
  • Adopt current best practices in tutoring, including investigating the possibility of developing a CRLA certified tutoring program. 
  • Identify, provide, and maintain resources and materials for tutors. 
  • Schedule tutoring sessions and monitor tutoring activities. 
  • Mediate in any issues that may arise between tutors and tutees. 
  • Promote the tutoring program campus-wide. 
  • Liaison with faculty throughout the semester to maintain a viable tutor pool. 
  • Represent the tutoring program at campus events and meetings. 
  • Log and track tutoring appointments using the adopted scheduling software. 
  • Assist in the data collection and data analysis for assessment of program outcomes. 
  • Gather information for and maintain tutor evaluation files. 

Student Success Center Academic Programming 

  • Advise approximately 50 students on their academic curricula and makes suggestions based on one-on-one interactions with students throughout the semester. 
  • Assist on the readmission process of students in the University College program. 
  • Provide placement testing support to incoming students during the summer term and as needed otherwise. 
  • Assist with conducting parent meetings and presentations to support the SSC team during all SOAR dates, Accepted Students Day or any other events supporting the university. 
  • Provide support to SSC staff, students and colleagues for any academic referral sent using UDM’s early alert system including academic interventions for students and faculty referrals. 

Professional Development

  • Attends local, state, and national workshops and conferences.
  • Serve on university committees.
  • Additional duties as needed.

Requirements

  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education -A college degree and a professional certificate or graduate degree; or 10 or more years of work experience in a related field.
  • Experience -Six months to two years (Equivalent combination of education and employment). Proven ability to conduct academic workshops, coordinate tutoring and other programs and work collaboratively with academic-orientedd offices.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree or equivalent in appropriate discipline such as higher education, education, or related field or working toward the completion of an advanced degree.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Exemplary communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient with technology including Microsoft Outlook and Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of the CRLA certification program requirements.

Physical Requirements

Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10pounds).


Work Environment  

Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.

   

Salary/Pay Information  

Commensurate with experience

   

Anticipated Schedule  

Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

   

Additional Information 

Payment for KCP Connections program duties will conclude at the end of the grant period or when the funding has been expended.
