SALARY:  The salary range for this position is $48,712.56 to $76,783.94 for Schedule A, and $48,712.56 to $68,738.88 for Schedule B.  For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater. Judiciary employees hired prior to August 21, 2014, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after August 21, 2014, are considered Schedule B.

REMOTE WORKThe Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.

Position Duties

The New Jersey Judiciary Hudson Vicinage has an exciting advancement opportunity open only to Judiciary employees. Under the general direction of the Finance Division Manager and other managerial or supervisory personnel, the Judiciary Clerk 4 Bilingual in the Finance Division is responsible to act as the lead worker to team members of non-subordinates in assigned tasks, regulate the flow of work in accordance with operating schedules, and give higher level technical advice to staff. The successful candidate will serve as lead worker of the unit. Other duties include but are not limited to perform cash control functions (daily cash registers cash outs, deposit preparations, and reconciliations); provide assistance, training and cross-training to staff and other team members; inform managers about unresolved staff or team conflicts, analyze case processing, child support modifications; serve as a liaison to Hudson County Welfare and other stakeholders of the child support program; complete statistics; process documents; utilize available systems including but not limited to eCourts, NJKIDS, CABS, CAPS, ACMS and others, to ensure optimal recording of financial transactions; reconcile daily edit reports, stats and daily activity assignments; answer and explain judiciary policies and procedures to customers, answer questions from the various divisions on payments and/or documents filed through Finance. Assist in the completion of the IV-D Cost Allocation report, provide customer service in English and Spanish languages. Perform related work as required.

Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.

Eligibility for Advancement: Eligibility is based upon the applicants having achieved all the competencies for advancement to Judiciary Clerk 4 Bilingual as listed on the Career Progression Eligibility Form for this title. Applicants for advancement to the Judiciary Clerk 4 Bilingual title are not required to take a New Jersey Civil Service Commission promotional examination.

Experience Requirement: Three years of experience in an office environment performing a variety of clerical and support services to include keyboarding and one or more of the following: document or information processing, handling payments for fees, recording monies received, reconciling balances or accounts and/or scheduling meetings or appointments.

BICAT Testing: Candidates selected to serve in a bilingual variant title must pass the New Jersey Civil Service Commission Bilingual Communicative Ability Test (BICAT) performance examination or provide proof of having established bilingual proficiency with the New Jersey Civil Service Commission.

Other Qualifications

Driver's License:  Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Authorization to Work:  US citizenship is not required.  Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.

Residency Law:  Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), also known as the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.
