Definition of Position:
The Clinical Epic Credentialed Trainer delivers high-quality training, implementation support, and optimization guidance for Epic, integrated software, and other healthcare technologies. This role focuses on empowering end users to fully leverage these systems for accurate documentation and efficient clinical workflows. Responsibilities include delivering both classroom and shoulder-to-shoulder training, providing on-site support, and participating in after-hours on-call rotations as needed. In close partnership with Epic Analysts, the trainer develops and maintains educational strategies, training materials, and role-specific learning programs. Additionally, this position plays a critical role in new department go-lives, leading pre-go-live preparation, delivering at-the-elbow support, and ensuring smooth adoption with minimal disruption to patient care.
Responsibilities:Essential Job Functions:
I) User Support and Training
- In collaboration with the Connect Program Principal Trainers, leads and/or assists in the development, coordination and implementation of end user training.
- Conducts classroom training for clinicians on Epic, including all clinical applications and additional healthcare technologies.
- Supports clinicians during implementation of new up-grades/modules/functionality which may include one-to-one support to facilitate and promote adoption of all documentation components, healthcare technologies and equipment at unit/department level.
- Accountable for optimizing nurse adaptation and utilization of documentation within Epic.
- Collects feedback and facilitates communication to and from IS/IT and clinical users.
- Develops educational/training materials and utilization of aides.
- Collaborates with nursing and end users at department level to maximize understanding and proficiency of end user work.
II) Epic Workflow & Design
- Problem-solving application issues and working through barriers to achieve results by collaborating effectively with end users and the IS project team.
- Identifies issues in system design, operational workflow, system implementation, and support.
- Participate in multidisciplinary groups to identify issues and facilitate problem solving.
Technical Support & Ticket Management
- Serve as a point of contact for Epic-related inquiries, issues, and system troubleshooting, providing timely resolution or escalation as appropriate.
- Monitor, manage, and resolve assigned IT support tickets related to Epic training, workflow questions, and basic system functionality.
- Collaborate with Epic Analysts and other IT team members to ensure accurate ticket documentation, root cause identification, and resolution tracking.
- Proactively identify recurring issues and communicate trends to the Epic training and analyst teams to inform curriculum updates, process improvements, and knowledge base enhancements.
III) Support of Organizational and Team Goals
· Communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare delivery team, leadership, and the project implementation team.
· Demonstrates teamwork and system thinking in the execution of implementation, training, and system support plans.
· Utilizes clinical and/or business expertise in system support and obtains information regarding user needs. Provides positive interaction with and support to a broad range of clinical users.
· Communicates and collaborates effectively and constructively with IT Management and Hospital Management
· Participate in on-call rotations, providing after-hours support as needed.

Education
Required: Highschool diploma
Preferred: Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare, Information Technology, or a related field. A combination of education, relevant certifications, and professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Licenses/ certifications/ registrations
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Active RN, LPN, CMA or clinical license preferred
Experience
Required: Minimum of three years’ clinical experience using an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Demonstrated experience using Epic EHR applications in a clinical or operational setting. Hands-on experience with Epic EHR.
Preferred: Prior experience with EHR training.
Other:
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to use electronic medical records for documentation of patient care delivery.
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer system software components, (e.g. MS Office,
- Windows operating system, file structures, network components, database and server concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to adopt and train new healthcare technologies.
- Fundamental understanding of patient workflow and workflow of care providers.
- Fundamental understanding of clinical policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated group presentation skills.
- Understands and apply adult learning principles.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasional walking, standing, bending, or lifting light office items (up to 25 pounds). Visual acuity to view computer screens and read detailed financial documents. Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically. May be required to move throughout the healthcare facility, including administrative and clinical areas.
Working Conditions:
This position operates in a professional office setting within a healthcare facility. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The office environment is climate-controlled, well-lit, and ergonomically designed for extended computer work. While this role is primarily office-based and does not involve direct patient care, the employee may occasionally be present in clinical areas or interact with staff working in clinical environments. As such, there is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases. The organization provides appropriate training and personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed to ensure safety.
