Deep Sky is pioneering the development of Direct Air Capture technology and projects in Canada, focusing on removing CO₂ directly from the atmosphere to help address climate change. We're building one of the world's first large-scale carbon removal facilities and are backed by leading climate tech investors. We’ve raised $75M in equity and have secured $40M USD with Bill Gates’ Breakthrough Energy Catalyst fund to develop Direct Air Capture projects. Deep Sky Alpha, our pioneering DAC commercialization and innovation center in Alberta, will be commissioned in Summer 2025. We are actively developing multiple large-scale commercial projects across Canada and plan to secure corporate equity and project financing this year to support these initiatives.

You will lead financial modeling, support capital raises (equity, debt, and public funding), and serve as a key finance partner to our engineering and project teams. Reporting to the VP Finance, you’ll work closely with external capital providers, public sector partners, and internal stakeholders to shape the financial structure of Canada’s next generation of climate infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Structuring & Transaction Execution
• Develop and maintain detailed project finance models for DAC, CO2 sequestration, renewable energy, and related infrastructure projects.
• Perform scenario analysis, risk allocation reviews, and valuation support.
• Support the structuring and negotiation of project-level financing: equity, debt, grants, guarantees, and blended finance.
• Contribute to key transaction documentation and commercial structuring.
Capital Raising & Partnership Development
• Support capital raise processes (project debt, tax equity, infrastructure funds).
• Partner with the public funding manager, VP Finance and Policy team to maximize access to government programs and incentives.
• Prepare investor materials and presentations with internal and external stakeholders.
Engineering & Project Development Support
• Work closely with our engineering team to evaluate technology partners and project configurations, including with our partners’ procurement teams to detail costs.
• Break down financial models and technical terms into plain language that everyone on the team can work with.
• Monitor project costs, forecasts, and financial KPIs in collaboration with Project and Engineering teams.
• Contribute to procurement and contracting strategies with finance input on commercial terms.
Strategic & Executive Support
• Analyze financial performance of assets under development or operation.
• Benchmark capital costs and structures across carbon removal, renewables, and infrastructure.
• Simplify financial models and terms to explain and support team members.
• Support the VP Finance and CEO with high-priority analyses, board materials, and ad hoc projects.
Required Qualifications
• 5–8 years of experience in project finance, infrastructure finance, clean energy, or structured finance.
• Advanced financial modeling skills in Excel (including IRR, DSCR, cash flow analysis, and sensitivities).
• Proven experience in capital raising and structuring for a variety of large-scale infrastructure or energy projects.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams, and the ability to present to executive stakeholders internally and externally.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams and present clearly to internal and external executive stakeholders.
• Proven ability to produce high-quality, client-ready materials under tight deadlines.
• Fluent in English; French proficiency is an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
• Background in engineering or technical training (e.g. B.Eng., B.Sc. in a relevant field).
• Familiarity with public funding programs in Canada or North America (e.g. EDC, NRCan, CIB).
• Professional designation (CPA, CFA, or similar).
• Experience in carbon markets, clean tech, or emerging energy transition infrastructure.
