About the Position
The City of Scottsdale Human Resources Department is seeking an Assistant Human Resources Director.
The Senior Director of Human Resources is looking for a trusted partner to assist with planning, directing, and administering comprehensive human resources programs. As one of the main points of contact for human resources related matters, you will perform as an expert manager who will tactically oversee assigned human resources programs, services and activities, which include coordinating the day-to-day operations and performing highly responsible managerial and supervisory work.
The ideal candidates will:

The Human Resources Department consists of 31 employees and supports over 2700 full-time, temporary, and part-time employees. We are a full-service human resource team that partners with city departments and the City Manager’s Office on a variety of workforce initiatives and strategies. The Assistant Human Resources Director will lead human resources management, professional, and/or administrative staff over multiple assigned areas, which may include:
- Recruitment and Selection
- Classification and Compensation
- Benefits and Wellness
- Leave, Disability, Accommodations, Transitional Duty, and Retirement
- Employee Relations
- Workforce Analytics and Reporting
- Training and Development
- Performance Management
- HR Administration, Policy, Contracts, and Budget
- Organizational Compliance
- HR Boards and Commissions

Position Duties
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field; and
- 8 years of professional experience in all aspects of human resources functions with five (5) years of experience managing human resources programs and professional level human resources staff; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Public Administration or related field.
- Experience in municipal human resources, including collaboration with public safety departments and managing classified employees.
- Professional human resources certification
Minimum Qualifications
Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area within a department(s).
