Description
The Director of Information Technologies is a senior executive responsible for aligning the organization’s information technology (IT) strategy with its business goals. The director oversees the planning, implementation, and management of technology systems and infrastructure, ensuring security, efficiency, and innovation across all digital operations for The Austen Riggs Center. This position provides direct leadership to the internal IT team while evaluating and managing external vendors, essential for supporting our evolving infrastructure, while ensuring top security measures are in place in accordance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient and staff information. The director will also support data initiatives across the organization, helping to develop cross-system reporting capabilities that enable accurate and thoughtful data analysis to drive informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic IT Leadership:
- Define and execute the IT vision and roadmap in alignment with organizational objectives. Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate technology into business strategy
- Develop and implement a forward-looking IT strategy aligned with organizational goals, vision, and strategy.
- Lead and oversee infrastructure upgrades and improvements to core systems and platforms.
- Lead IT governance initiatives, including data governance, risk assessments, and incident response planning
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions, determining their potential value for the organization such as artificial intelligence, automation, and data analytics.
- Support cross-functional initiatives by delivering integrated and scalable IT services.
- Oversee organizational training initiatives around IT security, Data privacy and proper usage of our operating systems.
- Establish and maintain business rapport with the senior leadership team.
Project Management:
- Lead and oversee a major system upgrade of our internal operating systems.
- Lead and manage IT proj
ects, including system upgrades, implementations, and integrations, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. - Coordinate with departments to understand their technological needs and ensure IT solutions align with organizational objectives.
- Ensure project deliverables meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
IT Operations:
- Direct daily IT operations, ensuring high performance, security, and uptime of systems.
- Create policies and training programs around the usage of our IT systems and equipment.
- Manage and mentor internal IT staff to support professional growth and accountability.
- Coordinate with and manage external vendors and consultants to ensure service quality and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Build and lead a high-performing IT team. Oversee hiring, training, and performance evaluations to ensure technical excellence and alignment with business needs
- Lead the planning and execution of major IT projects, including EHR upgrades and data management systems.
Data & Reporting Initiatives:
- Support enterprise-wide data initiatives by improving access, quality, and reporting capabilities across systems.
- Collaborate with departments to implement tools for analytics and performance measurement.
- Help design and implement cross-system reporting structures that support informed decision-making.
Security and Compliance:
- Ensure IT infrastructure, policies and practices are in compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to protect sensitive information.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, audits and training related to data privacy and IT security.
- Oversee the security strategy and collaborate with external security vendors.
- Develop and maintain a cybersecurity awareness and training program.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role preferably in healthcare or other highly regulated environment.
- Extensive knowledge of data strategy and management.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, and cyber security frameworks.
- Highly proficient in contract negotiations, contract maintenance, and vendor management.
- Strong background in cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, and IT operations.
- Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or CISM are highly desirable.
- Experience in the healthcare industry, specifically with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, including implementation, management, and integration.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with a proven ability to collaborate across departments with the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with frameworks like NIST, COBIT, and ITIL.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS), ERP systems, and data analytics tools.
- Strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
