Hybrid Parent Liaison for Portola School en San Bruno Park School District

San Bruno Park is a linguistically and culturally diverse school district in the San Francisco Bay Area. Located at the northern tip of Silicon Valley and just 10 miles south of San Francisco, this small preschool to grade 8 district is the home to four elementary schools and one middle school. Home to YouTube, Walmart.com and numerous other businesses, the city is a hub for tech and innovation. The city is geographically diverse, ranging from the urban flatlands to the central greenspace of the San Bruno City Park to the grand sweeping Bay vistas from the highest hilltops of the community. Through the generous support of the San Bruno community, the district is the recipient of a recent facilities bond to rebuild aging infrastructure. The district maintains a strong financial position as a result of new and increasing revenue sources. The San Bruno Park Board of Directors recently approved a 9.5% raise over two years for all educators in the district demonstrating its commitment to attract and retain talented staff across the district.

DEFINITION: Assist school staff with improving family involvement to support students learning and school programs, by aiding with understanding school-home relationship and setting home conditions that support children as students at each age and grade level. Include families as participants in school decisions, governance, and advocacy through PTA, school councils, committees and other parent organizations. Communicate with families about school programs and student progress through effective school-to-home and home-to-school communications. Work closely with the Educational Services Department in support of LCAP parental involvement.
