Purpose:

Leads parts operations within the dealership to provide the highest level of external and internal customer satisfaction while maximizing return on investment through parts sales, inventory control, expense control and employee development.  Optimizes parts department processes.  Attracts, retains, and effectively engages department personnel.

Responsibilities: 

  1. Develops, communicates, enforces and monitors effective Parts Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction
  2. Promotes and merchandises parts and accessories in conjunction with other store locations
  3. Creates annual Parts Department goals and budget, in alignment with the organization’s financial and operational objectives
  4. Develops and executes Parts Department marketing plan and monitors monthly to ensure achievement of departmental goals
  5. Maintains an accurate and effective parts inventory control system that includes a perpetual and/or annual physical inventory and proper counter procedures 
  6. Submits all parts warranty and return claims within the required time frame to receive maximum credit
  7. Maximizes use of all order discount programs to achieve management stock order goals
  8. Ensures all department tools, equipment and vehicles are in good working order
  9. Leads recruiting, staffing and employee development activities for employees reporting to this position 
  10. Regular attendance and timeliness are essential to this position
  11. Ability to work extended hours and weekends

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:

  1. 3+ years experience in Parts Department operations  
  2. Experience leading others
  3. Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions
  4. Ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups
  5. Basic understanding of financial principles relative to Parts Department operations 
  6. Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports
  7. Excellent customer service skills
  8. High School Diploma or equivalent experience 
  9. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
