PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGS: Brenau University will conduct criminal background checks on all persons being considered for initial employment. In some circumstances, an FBI fingerprint report may be necessary to satisfy the requirement. Once employed, employees must hold and continue to maintain a favorable criminal history background. Random background checks are performed. Credit checks may be performed on candidates/employees who are selected for a position that regularly engages in handling credit cards or other company monies. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) may be performed during the hiring process, or as part of a random check. MVR checks are required to meet insurance requirements for those employees operating a university vehicle or participating in any driving activity on behalf of Brenau University, (including operating a golf cart, rented vehicle or one’s personal vehicle). Employees who travel must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid Georgia driver’s license, and good driving record. All employees who operate university vehicles, who are employed in a sensitive position, or who travel regularly as part of their job responsibilities may be subject to post-hire drug screening and random drug-screening. All employees are subject to reasonable suspicion drug screening.

Position Summary and Requirements:
The Carole Ann Daniel College of Education is seeking adjunct faculty members to teach undergraduate students in our new B.S. in Speech/Language major. These courses will be offered online. Please note the following requirements:
- College degree required
- Current Speech Pathologist licensure required
- Demonstrated knowledge of the interrelationships across the language processes of listening, speaking, reading and writing and how speech/language professional contribute to literacy achievement
- Experience with school age students
- Strong familiarity with the Individuals with Disabilities Act
- Strong familiarity with writing and treatment plans
- Strong familiarity with writing Individual Education Plans
- Strong familiarity with least restrictive environment
- Strong familiarity with federal and state mandates as well as local policies in performance of their duties
- Ability to teach courses in both on ground and online formats
- Proficient in MS Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite applications, Zoom and Canva
- Exceptional oral and written communication
- Must be organized and demonstrate ability to prioritize workload
- Must be able to meet time and attendance deadlines
- Ability to work with a variety of people; often with competing priorities
- Willingness to work in a team structured environment with a collaborative nature
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to keep detailed records regarding program growth and challenges
- Ability to identify trends, issues or opportunities which may need to be addressed
Through coursework our instructors will:
- Ensure Brenau candidates are prepared to work with students exhibiting the full range of communication disorders, including those involving language, articulation, fluency voice/resonance and swallowing.
- Ensure Brenau candidates can determine where the disorder impacts the student’s education
- Ensure Brenau candidates are prepared to provide unique contributions to the educational curriculum for students with disabilities, as well as other learners who are at risk for school failure, or those who struggle in school settings.
- Ensure Brenau candidates are prepared to provide culturally competent services
- Ensure Brenau candidates are prepared to be involved in the efforts to prevent academic failure with programs such as RtI and evidence based practices
- Ensure Brenau candidates can accurately read and interpret speech language assessments
- Ensure Brenau candidates can effectively provide intervention related to the age and learning needs of each individual student
- Ensure Brenau candidates are competent in data collection and analysis for student outcome accountability

Environmental and Working Conditions/ Physical Demands and Aptitudes:
Mostly Sedentary work. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment related to teaching. Prolonged periods sitting and standing. worker is required to have close visual acuity to grade papers, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Must have the ability to travel short distances, and/or drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials. Exerting up to 15 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Some repetitive motion.
