The Retail Athletic Sales Coordinator supports the management of the Bear Necessities Fan Shop, a University Bookstore venue based in the Alfond Arena. The Coordinator works collaboratively with the Manager to unify merchandise offerings at venues and on the web, striving to create a successful, blended retail operation that meets the financial objectives of the department and serves the licensed team sport apparel and souvenir needs of UMaine athletics patrons. Typical hiring range for this position is $44,000 to $45,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Associate's degree, or the equivalent combination of education and experience, and 1-3 years related experience;
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to represent the university to a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, administration, vendors, and visitors;
- Exemplary sales, customer service, and people skills;
- Computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, and familiarity with POS cash register systems and other web-based software;
- The ability to handle a diverse set of responsibilities and tasks in a fast-paced setting, sometimes under pressure or in adverse conditions;
- Willingness to promote Bear Necessities, UM Athletics, and the University of Maine institution at large;
- Valid Maine driver’s license and be eligible to be authorized and approved as a university driver based on the Driver Administration Policy, to transport products, equipment, and staff between on- and off-campus locations.
Preferred:
- Supervisory experience;
- Familiarity with the UMaine campus;
- Understanding of Bear Necessities role within the multi-faceted university community;
- Experience working with collegiate athletics, team sports and/or sports fans.
