Primary Function
The primary function of the Inventory Specialist is to ensure that the Retail Sport Shop merchandise is managed in an accurate, effective and efficient manner.
Reporting and Accountability
- The Inventory Specialist reports to and is accountable to the Retail Shop Manager. In their absence report to the Manager on Duty.
Authority
- The Inventory Specialist has the support and authority necessary to carry out the responsibilities and tasks described in this job description and other delegated responsibilities of the Retail Sport Shop.
Physical Requirements
- Adequate physical agility to perform the physical tasks required such as climbing steep ladders for creating displays, kneeling, reaching, lifting, etc.
- Ability to climb stairs several times a day between sales floor and upstairs stockroom.
- Ability to push, pull, lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to accurately communicate verbally and in writing and read instructions.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Educational Requirements
- Formal education, training, or equivalent skill and experience in computer data entry skills.
Other Requirements
- At least two years’ experience in computer data entry, preferably in a retail sales environment.
- Must be organized, accurate, observant and detail-oriented.
- Must have adequate retail sales skills or ability to be trained in that area.
Work Hours and Days:
Hours are scheduled by the Retail Shop Manager, during normal operating hours on weekdays, and weekends. Some scheduling may be required at busy times, such as annual inventory or holiday weekends.
