The HLA Technologist II supports the mission, goals and strategic plan of Nevada Donor Network, Inc. (NDN) through participating in all aspects of Histocompatibility testing including patient test management, test performance and evaluation, result analysis and reporting, quality control, and quality assurance under the general supervision of the Manager/Director of HLA.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions Statement(s):
· Performs specimen processing.
· Performs ABO and HLA typing, cross match studies, analyzes results and prepares reports.
· Performs and analyzes HLA antibody screening results.
· Participates in routine maintenance and quality control (QC)/quality assurance (QA) procedures.
· Participates in on-call rotation as a first on-call technologist.
· Participates in professional self-development.
· Participates in proficiency testing exercises.
· Evaluates a given patient’s immunologic and serologic history, determines appropriate battery of tests, recommends additional testing if necessary.
· Assists in special projects and data analysis as requested.
· Assists in the development and updating of test procedures as requested.
· Recognizes and guards against disclosure of highly sensitive and confidential patient records and patient test results, i.e., compatibility results, HIV status and organ donor identification.
· Performs other related duties as required/requested.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or university) in biological science preferred.
Experience: Three years related experience in human histocompatibility testing under the supervision of a qualified Director preferred.
Computer Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Experience with database applications preferred.
Certificates & Licenses: American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ACHI) certification as a Certified Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT) or Specialist (CHS) is required. A Nevada State License to perform laboratory testing is required.
Other Requirements: Meets current state, federal and other regulatory agency (American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI)) educational/experience requirements. Occasionally required to travel by personal auto to meet all of the duties and responsibilities of the position. Required to have a personal cell phone.
