Requirements / Qualifications

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Directs and manages the overall program of instrumental music and marching band for the district. Provides students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular band activities and ensures compliance with all state and district requirements. Plans activities to achieve district, region, and state recognition.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
CREDENTIAL: California Single Subject Teaching Credential - Music
EL Authorization if not embedded in Credential
EDUCATION: BA or Master’s degree in music or equivalent with emphasis in music and related studies in Education.
EXPERIENCE: Teaching experience preferable in music.
PERSONAL QUALITIES: Appearance, grooming, and personality which establish a desirable example for pupils.
Ability to meet district standards for physical and mental health. Must have proven ability to relate well with students, parents, administrators, and teachers. Must possess good judgment, knowledge of school and district policies, and ability to reinforce appropriate school behavior.
DESIRABLE PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: Participation in choral and/or instrumental organization, and related performing activities. To widen experiences through concerts, personal performance, and travel. Acquire a broad educational understanding through teaching at several levels. Participate in professional music, educational, and community organization.
