About the Department
The purpose of this position is to create an opportunity for student staff to gain practical work experience through overseeing group exercise and/or personal training program.

Position Duties
- Mastery and continued demonstration of duties of the Group Exercise Instructor and Personal Trainer positions.
- Demonstrate knowledge of exercise principles, kinesiology, and biomechanics.
- Review trainers and instructors' programs in strength, cardiovascular, and flexibility.
- Conduct training on modifications of the exercises appropriate for the participants.
- Oversee fitness assessments.
- Develop training materials on motivation and leadership for trainers.
- Hire, train, and schedule fitness staff members.
- Serve as liaison between student staff and Graduate and/or Professional Staff.
- Oversee client database and record keeping.
- Represent functional unit/area on the Student Employee Board.
- Conduct monthly meetings with fitness staff members.
- Attend monthly meetings with supervisor.
- Attend all Student Development and Leadership Programs.
- Participate in campus Recreation and Wellness special events.
- Oversee equipment cleaning and inspection.
- Administer mentor forms and peer evaluations and conduct follow-up.
- Represent Professional Staff in her/his absence.
- Attend additional staff meetings, workshops, or conferences.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Required to possess and maintain current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
- Preferred : Possess and maintain a national fitness certification (ACE, ACSM, NASM) or a specialty certification (Reiki, mindfulness, Yoga, Zumba? etc.).
- Proven superior level of interpersonal skills.
- Possess and maintain a national fitness certification such as ACE or AFAA.
