About the Department
The DuPage County Health Department is seeking a temporary part-time Human Resources Intern to join its HR team. This position will be based out of our Central Public Health Center in Wheaton, Illinois.
An employee in this classification performs work of moderate difficulty providing administrative and customer service support for the Human Resources Department. Work involves assisting in the establishment and maintenance of a variety of payroll, benefits and human resources record keeping systems including the Dayforce/Ceridian payroll system.
This role is currently a hybrid position working remotely and on site. The role is scheduled to work part-time (10-30 hrs a Week) Monday through Friday (some potential weekends needed) from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM for 8-12 weeks.
Position Duties
• Compiles forms and information for the accurate set up of employee payroll, personnel and other related files.
• Runs reports from the payroll database and monitors for accuracy.
• Validates new system requirements with existing processes.
• Creates and uploads employee data to third party providers.
• Partner closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful payroll system implementation.
• Researches and responds to employee requests regarding benefits, payroll and specifically answering a high volume of questions during the "go live" period after the Dayforce/Ceridian implementation.
• Offers and explains information on benefits, policies, recruitment, payroll and training.
• Maintains personnel, medical and training files and records; tracks employee health and wellness requirements and creates related reports.
• Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to patient privacy laws.
• Good knowledge of payroll processes, requirements forms and of the Dayforce/Ceridian payroll system; considerable skill in performing accurate and timely review related to employee payroll; good knowledge of personnel policies, file system organization, storage and destruction guidelines; good knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic.

Minimum Qualifications
Completion of an Associate’s degree in Social Sciences, Liberal Arts, or a related field; and two years of administrative support experience which included a high volume of public contact; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
