Hybrid Fiber Splice Technician en FOCUS Broadband

Job Summary:

FOCUS Broadband seeks a dedicated, hardworking individual for our Fiber Splicing Technician opportunity. This technician performs cable installation, construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to the FOCUS Broadband communication network. This technician will work in both indoor and outdoor settings, including but not limited to the central office cable system and various weather conditions. The Fiber Splicing Technician will need to be able to review, interpret, and analyze splicing diagrams and blueprints.

Requirements

• Splices fiber, copper, cable, and cuts terminals for new construction. Maintains and repairs new cable plant copper and fiber optic lines by opening and bonding.
• Maintains cable system by testing to locate the trouble, opening cable to repair or replace defective sections, and closing and sealing cable.
• Identifies, counts, and prepares groups of pairs for splicing.
• Mounts demarcation devices and protectors at customer premises and attached individual house or service cable pair of Central Office feeder cable.
• Knowledge of telecommunications construction and cable installation practices and procedures.
• Read and interpret documents such as maps, diagrams, blueprints, and operating maintenance manuals.
• Must have a valid and good driving record. With the capability to obtain a Class “A” CDL Driver’s license
• Self-motivated individually as well as in a team environment
• Clear & concise communication skills with internal as well as external customers.
• Strong attention to detail and punctuality.
• Must be able to work flexible schedules. Example: overtime, holidays, weekends, on-call.
• The adeptness to work out-of-doors in various weather conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Certifications in fiber technical field preferred
• Previous splicing and troubleshooting of copper and fiber cable experience required.
• Must be available for flexible work schedules. Example: day shift, night shift, weekends, on-call, overtime.
• Must have a valid and good driving record.
• Experience climbing poles, ladders, or operating aerial lifts mounted on trucks, preferred.
