Responsibilities
First layer of leadership to share technical knowledge with the automation team.
Key member of Automation training team for new Automation employees.
Organize daily work assignments for all technicians on the Automation team.
Coordinate work assignments, meetings, and leadership between shifts.
Ensure that downtime documentation is accurate for current shift.
Work unsupervised in maintaining equipment, tools, and work area.
Respond to production calls for assistance on automation related equipment.
Assist in the set-up / tuning of appropriate equipment following a mold change.
Perform a daily visual inspection of on-line equipment to detect malfunctions.
Perform repairs associated with the red tag program
Assist Automation Engineers and department management with project requests.
Maintain cleanliness and functionality of tools and work area.
Maintain and enforce all company safety, environmental and department of health requirements.
Tune robotic applications as production needs arise.
Qualifications
High School diploma / GED equivalent.
Ability to lead, motivate, and direct employees.
Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems and proven ability to apply that knowledge.
Possess advanced electrical and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of pc and plc based machine control systems.
Commitment to complete four year Berry Global maintenance mechanic apprenticeship program.
Able to work independently and with others.
Dependable and motivated
Ability to safely operate a forklift in high traffic, low clearance areas while not posing a safety risk to others.
Able to climb ladders safely.
Able to work overhead or in awkward positions on a frequent basis.
Ability to work safely on elevated surfaces.
Ability to lift 50 pounds; 20 pounds over shoulder height.
Able to stand/walk for long periods of time.
Hearing sufficient to recognize and respond to verbal warnings, alarms, and horns on forklifts.
Verbal communication adequate to use a radio and or paging system to contact other co-workers in the other areas of the complex.
Flexibility to stay over or come in early to meet department objectives.
