About the Department
The Community Resilience Team Lead is responsible for supporting the Office of Community Health & Safety (OCHS) in its mission to ensure that its programs respond to and reflect the needs of the community.
Critical to OCHS is the Community Resilience team, which focuses on equipping city residents with knowledge and skills to educate and empower their communities in a supportive, low-barrier environment. The successful incumbent will contribute to that goal by being responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of trainings and community-based events alongside the Community Resilience Program Manager. This will take place in the context of interdepartmental collaboration, collaboration with first-responder personnel and bureaus in the Department of Public Safety, and with external organizations.
In accordance with the Community Resilience Program Manager, the incumbent will help prepare materials in advance of trainings and events, such as flyers, digital presentations, social media presentations, and other public-facing projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of harm reduction, trauma-informed approaches, and a focus on empowering individual agency and choice.

- A current, valid Class C Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Operator's License is required prior to appointment, and must be maintained throughout employment. - PA Child Abuse History Certification Clearances are required prior to appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.

Qualifying Requirements:
Your City of Pittsburgh application will be reviewed, and your work experience and education/training will be evaluated to determine if you meet the qualifying eligibility requirements listed below for this position. You will be sent an eligibility letter regarding your eligible/ineligible status.
- WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must clearly show four (4) years of full-time experience working in one or more of the following areas: government constituent affairs, related community engagement, program development and implementation, cross-sector coordination, outreach to vulnerable populations, partnership building with other organizations or agencies and/or working with the public. (Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis.)
- EDUCATION/TRAINING: The application must clearly show a bachelor's degree from a fully accredited institution in Political Science, Public Policy/Affairs, Public Health, Social Work, Public Administration, Community Organizing, or a related field.
- EQUIVALENCY: Education/training and/or work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis if the application clearly shows the required number of years to meet the Total Qualifying Requirement for this position (based on the sum of work experience and education/training listed above). The Total Qualifying Requirement is eight (8) years. (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training.)

Other Qualifications
- Assists with implementing trainings and events in collaboration with other programs, city staff and first-responders.
- Supports tasks, projects, and initiatives of the Community Resilience team alongside the Community Resilience Program Manager.
- Coordinates and sets up workshops for residents and community groups on topics like harm reduction and provides available resources.
- Collects feedback through surveys, meetings, and conversations to understand community needs and improve programs.
- Develops public-facing materials in advance of events and trainings, in support of OCHS projects and initiatives.
- Maintains and fosters partnerships with other city departments, first-responder bureaus, and external entities.
- Supports the team’s mission to inform residents about services and programs available through the city and it's community partners.
- Strengthens collaboration with neighborhood organizations, nonprofits, and other community partners.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of community resources and referral pathways to OCHS programs and city services to accurately guide community stakeholders.
- Creates and fosters an environment that embraces cultural diversity and recognizes the strength of interdisciplinary teams and community partnerships.
- Performs other related tasks and duties as assigned or required.
