What does a DSP do?

As a Direct Support Professional, you will care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As outlined in the individual's service plan and implementation strategies, your responsibilities will include supervision, personal care training, active treatment, and medication administration when necessary. You will also ensure the safety and well-being of designated individuals at all times, ensure self-advocacy training for individuals, ensure informed choices are being offered, maintain documentation in compliance with agency and regulatory standards (e.g., individual data sheets, incident reports, etc.), provide input on individual progress and needs for programmatic purposes, and more.

What shifts do we have available?:

Please note that each of our positions has a set schedule, meaning there will be alterations to the schedules. If hired, we do have hands-on, on-the-job training during 1st shift hours.

• Residential: Full-time 2nd Shift: Work between 2 PM and 11 PM. Someone in this position will need every weekend availability.

 To be considered full-time, an employee must work at least 30 hours a week.

What are the minimum job requirements for this position?

• Must have a current and valid driver's license with the appropriate car insurance
• Provide evidence of a high school diploma/transcripts
• Have the ability to pass both Iowa and Illinois background checks
• Demonstrate strength and flexibility to assist lifting individuals or provide other individual-related care when needed.
• Have a fun and positive attitude to encourage the individuals we serve.
