Primary Purpose:

The Director, Enterprise Technology is responsible for the successful implementation and operation of IT infrastructure and enterprise services  to achieve the objectives of the organization. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish the goals of the Information Technology (IT) Department. Ensures infrastructure systems meet the needs of the company through a wide degree of creativity and latitude. Provides services that include application and system administration; IT network, compute, and storage; end-user  services such as helpdesk, PC support, and telecom. Projects the mission, vision, and values of ARUP.

Essential Functions:

Works with the CIO and appropriate enterprise-wide business leaders to develop and monitor a long-term strategic plan for area of responsibility so as to achieve corporate strategic objectives and requirements.

Works with the CIO to develop, implement, and maintain IT corporate policies and procedures.

Develops, implements, and maintains policy, procedures, governance, and standards for area of responsibility. 

Assures all areas of responsibility comply with corporate policy and procedures.

Evaluates, selects, develops, implements, maintains, and supports information technology solutions that meet the needs of the company.

Negotiates, recommends, and/or approves contractual agreements and service contracts. Interacts with vendors to assure competitive pricing and to resolve issues. 

Employs strong financial management with a focus on cost optimization.

Provides corporate oversight, as assigned, through participation in committees that provide governance for specific areas, such as the IT Steering Committee and Capital Equipment Committee. 

Ensures service levels are appropriate for the information technology needs of the company through appropriate sourcing, staffing, processes, supplier, staff, and customer relations.

Prepares a disaster preparedness process for the IT infrastructure. 

Ensures team maintains and appropriate documentation necessary to operate all systems. 

Ensures IT projects and operational activities are executed according to best practice approaches; are compliant with corporate, regulatory, and accrediting agency standards; and prioritized according to IT governance definition and the needs of the company.

Defines and maintains an organizational structure that provides appropriate levels of IT service with appropriate managerial span of control. Establish key performance indicators to monitor performance. 

Evaluates the evolving technology landscape and proposes new information technologies, along with IT staff and others, where value to the company can be demonstrated.

Educate technology consumers on the effective and appropriate use of information systems, data management, and new technologies.

Recruits, hires, develops, motivates, and retains qualified IT management and staff. Provide counseling and termination activities when required. 

Coach and mentor workforce to assure effective career development, leadership development and succession planning. 

Defines and defends operational and capital financial plans for area of responsibility and manages expenditures against those plans. Prepares resource requests with appropriate justification.

Projects the organization’s mission, image and business philosophy in all interactions with clients, potential clients, and others outside of the organization. Some travel as required. 

Support and enhance the IT culture of innovation, delivery, and partnership across the organization.

Physical Requirements:

Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.

Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Communicate: Frequently communicate with others.

PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies. 

ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. 

Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance.
