Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated School and Community-Based Counselor to support the emotional, social, and behavioral well-being of students both in school and within the broader community. This role is ideal for professionals committed to creating strong, trusting relationships with youth and families, and working collaboratively with schools and local agencies to promote student success.
What You Will Be Doing to Make a Difference...
· Support students who have experienced trauma, loss, mental health challenges, and/or are engaging in or at risk of substance use as a result of adverse childhood experiences, community trauma, and parental addiction.
· Provide intensive, school-based and home-based clinical interventions designed to address the complex needs of students and their families.
· Provide students with individual, family and group therapy
· Provide home based outreach and counseling to students and families.
· Engage in targeted strategies to promote regular school attendance and academic engagement.
· Deliver school-wide social-emotional learning (SEL) curricula
· Collaborate closely with school counselors, health educators, the behavioral health navigator, QPS Big Brother Big Sisters Big Futures Program, supervisors of attendance, and the district homeless liaison to create a comprehensive support network.
· Collaborate with teachers and guidance counselors to provide training and awareness for identifying substance use and mental health issues, as well as linkages to care.
· Utilize a multi-disciplinary approach to assess student needs and interventions.
· Utilize a logic model to guide the implementation and outcomes of the school based counseling program, focusing specifically on the target population.
· Monitor initial data as well as progress through key metrics such as school attendance records, academic performance, Youth Risk Behavior Survey, student Adverse Childhood Experience Questionnaire.
· Participate in at least 3 of Quincy Public School’s Evening Parent Academies during each academic year.
· Work scheduled hours according to the Quincy Public Schools calendar, as well as 10 additional full work days determined by Bay State Community Services.
· Provide referrals to additional school and community support services.
· Complete all required program documentation.

• Masters degree in school counseling or related field
• Minimum 1 year experience working in a school system.
