Schedule/Hours:


Mon-Fri, 0500-1530 or mobile shift 


Requirements

Education: 

  • Graduation from an accredited training program resulting in certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), Health and Human Services or American Medical Certification (most preferred), (2)A degree or certificate of graduation from an approved/accredited training program.; or (3) 12 months of experience as an apheresis technician within the past 24 months
  •  Equivalency Determination Request: The Contractor may not request an equivalency determination as a substitute for education requirements on this labor category.

Certifications: 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). Health and Human Services of American Medical Certification.
  • A degree or certificate of graduation from an approved/accredited training program.

Experience: The phlebotomist technician’s experience shall be one of the following: (1). Minimum of 3 years’ phlebotomy experience (most preferred) or:  either a minimum of 12 months whole blood phlebotomy experience within the preceding 24 months or (3) have completed an apheresis training program.  Minimum of three years’ experience.


Duties:

  • Shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.
  • Knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records.
  • Shall be knowledgeable of equipment and supply terminology and skill sufficient to identify and use necessary equipment and supplies properly and to communicate proper use with nurses, medical staff, patients, and family members.
  • Must possess professional knowledge of a wide range and variety of diseases and types of injuries pertaining to the brain, central nervous system, spinal cord, peripheral nervous systems. Supplementary skills to recognize emergency conditions that require immediate referral or involvement of qualified medical personnel and perform designated treatment.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of military culture, customs, and procedures including military profiles and retention of Active Duty personnel.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to WRNMMC patients, potential blood donors and hospital staff members. Fully and directly supports the WRNMMC Customer Advocacy Program, providing an easy interface for donors and staff with questions about ASBBC’s policies, procedures, performance. 
  • The contractor must pass Color Vision Test
