Hybrid Detention Deputy en Goodhue County

Goodhue County is actively recruiting qualified applicants for the Detention Deputy position in the Sheriff's Office. We are looking for correctional career minded individuals.

The primary responsibilities of the Detention Deputy include supervising detainees within the detention center housing units, performing well-being checks, booking and releasing detainees (fingerprinting, mugshots, searches, etc.), security inspections to ensure the safety of detention staff and detainees, implementing the policies and procedures of the detention center, and other responsibilities as detailed in the job description.

Minimum Requirements

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Qualified applicants will also be able to pass a thorough background investigation and possess a valid driver's license.

A peace office license is not required and we are not seeking licensed individuals. Physical requirements include stooping, bending, sitting, walking, running, climbing, unusual position, and ability to restrain detainees. These activities require moderate to heavy forces (40-80 pounds) including twisting and torqueing.

Desired qualifications include the ability to react in a professional manner in a high stress environment, effective verbal communication skills, knowledge of basic computer operations including data entry, Windows 10 and higher, MS Word and Outlook, and knowledge of radio equipment and etiquette.

Salary & Benefits

County employees receive competitive pay and  benefit offering. The starting salary for this position is $27.20 - $28.56 per hour.
