Your Role
The Provider Communications team is responsible for partnering with business departments throughout Blue Shield of California and Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan to support the strategic business goals and compliance requirements of multiple network, clinical, and operations teams. The Provider Communications team performs a key role in enabling the teams to work successfully with network participants statewide who provide healthcare services to commercial, Medicare, and Medi-Cal plan members. The Marketing Communications Specialist, Senior will report to the Senior Manager, Provider Communications. In this role you will collaborate with provider-facing and other teams throughout Blue Shield of California and Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan to develop and deliver strategic communication plans, content, consultations, and success measurement for provider-facing external communications.
Responsibilities
Your Work
In this role, you will:
- Perform demanding strategic writing, editing, presentation, and communications project management responsibilities
- Create communications through the eyes of healthcare provider organizations and practitioners – developing positive and informative experiences and meaningful touchpoints
- Develop strategic, comprehensive communication plans that incorporate a full spectrum of tools and tactics (letters, digital content, etc.)
- Present and project manage implementation of comprehensive communications projects from development to delivery in collaboration with Provider Communications and Provider Education team members and internal stakeholders
- Participate in cross-functional teams across multiple business units to align on priorities and develop comprehensive communications strategies, content, and appropriate delivery plans
- Use data to measure success and continually optimize results (open rates, response rates, impact to business objectives, etc.)
- Ensure communications strategy and content meets brand, legal and compliance requirements
Qualifications
Your Knowledge and Experience
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Marketing or Business and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Requires 5 years of prior relevant experience
- Requires training and expertise in writing, copy editing, and formal preparation and presentation of content for internal collaboration and final external communications in corporate and/or journalistic business style
- Requires effective skill in using Microsoft Office Suite applications (WORD, Excel, PowerPoint), online meeting tools, and other online applications to project management development and delivery of plans and final communications
- Requires excellent verbal, written and communications skills and collaborative approach in working cross-functionally to achieve business objectives
- Requires ability to efficiently organize, track, document, and report on progress and completion of all phases of communications projects in an accurate and timely manner

Two Ways of Working:
- Hybrid (Default): Work from a business unit-approved office at least two (2) times per month (for roles below Director-level) or once per week (for Director-level roles and above). Exceptions:
o Member-facing and approved out-of-state roles remain remote.
o Employees living more than 50 miles from their assigned offices are expected to work with their managers on a plan for periodic office visits.

- On-Site: Work from a business unit-approved office an average of four (4) or more days a week.
