Interested in working with a groundbreaking company that’s focused on decarbonizing the atmosphere? CarbonCapture Inc. develops and deploys direct air capture (DAC) machines that can be connected in large arrays to remove massive amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. With a patented modular open systems architecture, our DAC platform allows for plug-and-play upgrades, mass production, unlimited scalability, and rapid technology iterations.
We’re looking for a practical, solutions-focused process engineer to join our multi-disciplinary Systems Team. In this role, you’ll take ownership of process engineering deliverables such as P&IDs, control narratives, and system layouts, and work cross-functionally to resolve real-world design and integration challenges.
You will be instrumental in driving the development and iteration of our capture process technology – translating concepts into functional designs, troubleshooting issues identified during builds and tests, analyzing system data to validate performance, and communicating requirements and outcomes to a wide variety of stakeholders.
The hiring range displayed above is specifically for those who will work in or reside in the location listed. In extending an offer, CarbonCapture Inc. considers factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s job-related skills, experience, knowledge, and relevant education/training.
Responsibilities
Own and develop process engineering deliverables for CarbonCapture prototype systems, including P&IDs, heat and mass balance, equipment specifications, and operational procedures.
Help define and evolve system architecture, including process flows, control strategies, instrumentation and measurement approach, heat integration, and risk mitigations.
Lead resolution of process and mechanical issues found in real-world builds (e.g., control logic, layout clashes, and integration gaps).
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical & controls, project, and test teams to ensure well-integrated system designs and reliable operation.
Support prototype development through test planning and data analysis.
Identify and drive opportunities for system-level improvements in performance, safety, cost, and operability.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
3+ years of full-time industry experience in process engineering.
Strong working knowledge of thermodynamics, process design principles, and control systems.
Experience creating and managing process engineering documentation: P&IDs, PFDs, mass and energy balances, and control strategies.
Comfortable working hands-on with early-stage systems and prototypes, including on-site troubleshooting.
Clear, concise communication and documentation skills.
Self-directed and adaptable, with a proven ability to define and execute tasks in a startup-style environment.
Desired Background
Experience in pilot plant design and operation, or in scale-up of new process technologies.
Proficiency in Python and/or other data analysis tools.
Prior experience modeling systems in Excel, Python, Aspen, and/or other software tools.
