The SBHC Licensed Clinical Social Workers (SBHC LCSW) is a mental health professional who provides counseling, evaluation, intervention, case management services to those who are suffering mental, social, familial and/or medical issues. In addition to taking their client’s psychological and emotional states into account, part of what makes social work unique is that LCSWs also examine the social and environmental factors impacting the client’s life. In doing so, they are able to provide resources within the community that can make a positive impact on their lives. A LCSW can work in mental health facilities, social service agencies, hospitals, school systems, or even open their own private practice.
Work Experience Requirements:
- Evaluating clients to determine their needs and the support options that can help them.
- Developing individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, incorporating evidence-based practices.
- Perform laboratory tests and individual therapeutic services.
- Coordinating services and resources, such as healthcare, community support, and financial aid, to meet clients’ needs.
- Responding to and managing mental health crises, providing immediate support and interventions.
- Educate patients/families about disease treatment plan including self-care post discharge, holistic health needs, available resources and follow up care within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Maintaining accurate and confidential client records.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action
Education/Licensure/Experience Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counselling, and/or Marriage and Family Therapy.
- Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Graduate Social Work (GSW) actively pursuing licensure (must obtain within six years of employment per state guidelines for SBHCs).
- 2 - 5 years’ experience, preferably working with children and/or adolescents
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills and ability to work in challenging and variable conditions.
- Experience with electronic health records required, preferably NextGen or similar EHS.
