About the Job:

The Payroll Administrator is responsible for supporting and processing accurate and timely payroll for a high-volume, fast-paced retailer. The associate ensures compliance with federal, state/provincial, and local laws. This role requires strong attention to detail, proficiency with payroll systems, and the ability to handle sensitive information with integrity.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform more complex and high impact payroll processes in the execution of high volume, multi-state, multi-provincial, weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for U.S. and Canada. Be the primary contact for the payroll processing outside of North America.
  • Leads processor of employee expense reimbursements and manages the vehicle reimbursement program and processing
  • Processes and investigates any issues related to garnishment, bonus, severance, and commission payments
  • Ensure compliance with IRS, FLSA, provincial and other regulations
  • Assist with tax related tasks and inquiries
  • Monitors weekly union payroll deductions and manages the process(es) to pay the union(s) according to the collective bargaining agreements
  • Manages the garnishment processes which includes, but not limited to: process and remit payments for child support, tax levies, student loans, etc, update garnishment model, complete garnishment updates testing and manage third party relationship
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data
  • Respond and when applicable respond to/investigate payroll-related inquiries and audits
  • Collaborate with HR and accounting teams to best support payroll functions and associates
  • Handles escalated onboarding and termination payroll tasks
  • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
  • Generate payroll reports for management and accounting purposes
  • Prepares complex reports for HR, Finance, and Legal as requested

Qualifications:

  • Positive attitude with a strong urge to learn
  • 5+ years of multi-state/international payroll experience
  • Experience in data collection, entry and reporting with great attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Knowledge of payroll laws and accounting principles
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work under deadlines
  • Computer savvy with working knowledge of relevant software
  • Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent math, organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
