Job Summary: About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Child Development Center on RAF Lakenheath, UK. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on days, evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Scheduled hours will be 0-40 per week with no minimum guarantee. Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
Major Duties:
- Performs a full range of cooking task that adheres to AF and USDA child food codes. Performs duties which include, but are not limited to, the following: roasts, broils, bakes, steams and stews meats, fish and poultry. Prepares soups, stocks, broths, gravies, sauces and puddings without the use of packages mixes. Adjusts standardized recipes for number of servings and age appropriate minimum serving requirements. Prepares entire meals which required coordinating the cooking of several items with different cooking times and characteristics. Plans the cooking process to produce complete meals (breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack) on time and at the proper temperature. Follows USDA, DoD regulations/instructions and local guidance for menu planning, food preparation, food storage, kitchen sanitation and cleanliness. Conducts and documents health and sanitation inspections. Responsible for food program inventory control, ordering and payments. Prepares food program budget for management approval. Cleans and maintains all kitchen equipment, work areas and utensils after each use. Performs various other cleaning tasks. Performs other related duties as assigned. Must be able to perform yield testing to determine portion cost and to adjust ingredients in standardized recipes. Must have knowledge of procedures to order, issue and store food. Experience and knowledge must have been gained in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, club or similar food activity.
