Job Summary: About the Position: Vacancies are located at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Cavazos, Texas. Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. This is an open continuous announcement. Major Duties:
- Perform bio-psychosocial assessments on behavioral health patients to determine a diagnosis.
- Perform routine case management functions including telephonic monitoring of symptom severity and/or adherence to behavioral health treatment plans.
- Provide targeted assessment and evaluation, including diagnostic impressions and/or functional status focused on the presenting problem.
- Formulate behavioral health interventions.
- Provide consultation services for a subset of patients who require ongoing monitoring and follow-up.
- Provide counseling services using various evidence-based modalities as clinically indicated.
Qualifications: Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Minimum Qualifications for the Social Worker (Clinical) GS-11: Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. AND Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations of behavioral health patients; assisting with providing individual or group clinical counseling; and implementing behavioral health treatment recommendations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. AND Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. Minimum Qualifications for the Social Worker (Clinical) GS-12: Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations of behavioral health patients, providing individual or group clinical counseling, and developing behavioral health treatment plans or recommendations. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
