Job Summary: You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the COMBAT SYSTEMS TEST BRANCH (CODE 295), COMBAT SYSTEMS DIVISION, CHIEF ENGINEER, ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Major Duties:
- You will act as an Assistant Chief Test Engineer-Weapons in Code 290.
- You will assist the Chief Test Engineer (CTE-W) with the development, direction, scheduling and coordination of a test program on the submarines.
- You will assist the CTE-W with maintaining the day-to-day progress, conditions and status of testing.
- You will be resolving emergent problems that may delay project completion.
- You will plan and execute assignments and projects to meet overall objectives.
- You will ensure the timelessness and cost effectiveness of the work performed.
Qualifications: GS-12 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with submarine weapons systems, operating principles, component functions, and testing requirements. Experience working within a combat system test program on one or more new overhaul submarines. Experience using mechanical and electrical weapons systems and equipment. Experience applying the principles and theories of physical and engineering sciences, and practices of electronics, electrical and mechanical engineering. Must be LTE-W qualified.
