We are seeking an experienced Traffic Engineer to spearhead our traffic engineering efforts in Fort Worth, Texas. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact by establishing and leading the traffic engineering practice in our Fort Worth office.
As the Lead Traffic Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the direction and growth of our services in the area, with the full support of our well-established, company-wide traffic engineering and planning team. You’ll have the chance to pursue and lead traffic engineering projects,build and mentor a local team, and collaborate with other disciplines across the firm. Key Responsibilities Include:
Coordinating and collaborating with senior leaders on client management and strategic business development within the Fort Worth market.
Driving efforts to expand the traffic engineering and planning services in the region.
Pursuing new business opportunities through relationships, professional organizations, etc.
As services grow in the region, participating in building and leading a local traffic engineering and planning team.
Providing leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities for junior staff.
Generating project proposals and participating in project interviews in coordination with marketing staff and senior leadership.
Developing project goals, scopes of work, and budgets to guide project activities.
Coordinating and managing the work of team members involved in traffic engineering projects.
Providing quality control and quality assurance on all aspects of projects.
Producing high-quality deliverables and communicating project findings to clients.
Keeping abreast of emerging trends in the transportation industry, such as autonomous vehicles, Smart Cities technologies, ridesharing, TSMO, ITS, etc.
As opportunities and demands present themselves, this role may perform other responsibilities related to the position.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or similar
Professional Engineer (PE)
Extensive traffic engineering experience with a proven ability to lead projects and consistently deliver high-quality results
Strong interest in driving client engagement and pursuing new business opportunities
Excellent inter-personal and leadership skills
Valid Driver's License
Additional Qualifications that are helpful:
Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE)
Prior project experience with TxDOT
Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation
Experience with urban, multimodal transportation planning and traffic calming
Experience leading teams in a project client environment
Experience with Synchro 10 and traffic signal operations/phasing
Experience with traffic simulation modeling software packages such as PTV’s VISSIM
Experience with innovative intersection and interchange configurations
Experience with the predictive methods of the Highway Safety Manual
Experience with traffic forecasting methods
Experience with travel demand modeling software packages such as Caliper’s TransCAD
Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation
Experience with urban, multimodal transportation planning and traffic calming
Experience leading teams in a project client environment
