The opportunity

We’re looking for a Email Marketing Manager to lead the strategy, execution, and growth of our email programs across a portfolio of high-impact newsletters and media brands.

This role sits at the intersection of audience development, acquisition strategy, brand building, and revenue growth. You’ll come on board to help oversee the full lifecycle of our email marketing—from attracting and onboarding new subscribers to deepening engagement and supporting monetization through newsletter sales.

As a senior member of the marketing team, you'll collaborate with executives, guide junior team members, and partner with content, social, paid, and sales teams to turn email into a high-performance channel for growth and storytelling.

This is a high-visibility, strategic role for a marketing leader who thrives in both creative storytelling and performance optimization.

Location: United States

What you'll do

  • Own and evolve the long-term strategy for email marketing across multiple newsletters and brands.

  • Lead and scale acquisition, engagement, and retention initiatives to grow subscriber bases and deepen audience connection.

  • Define and monitor KPIs across the email funnel; identify trends and drive continuous performance improvement.

  • Partner with leadership to develop strategies that support broader business goals including brand expansion, audience monetization, and revenue diversification.

Campaign Management & Execution

  • Oversee the planning, creation, and execution of lifecycle email campaigns, from onboarding to win-back.

  • Direct and refine segmentation, A/B testing, and behavioral targeting strategies.

  • Ensure all campaigns reflect brand voice, editorial quality, and design excellence.

  • Manage campaign calendars and workflows to align email content with editorial, social, and promotional initiatives.

Team & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with design, editorial, social, and paid teams to create integrated, omnichannel campaigns.

  • Guide or manage team members by providing mentorship, structure, and clear performance goals.

  • Partner with sales to support newsletter sponsorships through strategic placement, performance tracking, and partner-facing reporting.

Present strategy and performance updates to stakeholders and executives with clarity and confidence.

Who you are

You’re a seasoned email marketing professional with a proven ability to grow audiences, lead strategic initiatives, and communicate with both creative and business stakeholders. You’re both analytical and imaginative, just as comfortable discussing conversion metrics as you are shaping the story behind a newsletter.

  • Agile professional who excels in a fast-paced environment and thrives on continuously pivoting strategies to drive business needs forward

  • 4+ years of experience in email marketing, newsletter publishing, or lifecycle marketing.

  • Fluency in segmentation, automation, and behavioral targeting.

  • Strong writing and editing skills; ability to shape narrative and CTAs to drive clicks and conversions.

  • Deep experience with audience growth strategies, community engagement, and brand building via email.

  • Familiarity with newsletter sales and sponsorship workflows.

  • Ability to mentor and lead others while working independently and proactively.

  • Experience presenting to and collaborating with executives and stakeholders

Bonus Points

Core Competencies

  • Strategic thinker with a growth mindset and creative problem-solving abilities.
