About the job

We are searching for an experienced and analytical Lead Economy Designer to drive the strategy behind the platform's reward systems which includes a unique blend of casual games and an innovative play-to-earn layer that engages millions of players.

You will play a critical role in designing a rewarding and earning experience that drives player retention, engagement, and revenue while balancing the complexities of a real-money reward system based on ad revenue.

This role is pivotal in ensuring that users remain engaged over the long term while balancing profitability.

You will design, optimize, and manage the economic systems that shape user behaviour, maximising engagement while maintaining a sustainable business model.

The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of economy design, be comfortable with numbers, and be adept at experimenting with incentive structures to find what drives user retention and monetization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Incentive Design: Optimize real-money rewards and in-game currency mechanisms that encourage long-term user engagement while managing budget constraints. Develop fair and engaging earning and reward loops that keep players engaged over the long term, balancing ad-based revenue generation with sustainable user rewards.
  • User Segmentation: Analyse user behaviour to define different user segments. Design dynamic systems that adapt to user behaviour to maximize the engagement of valuable user groups while maintaining profitability.
  • Economy Balance: Manage and refine the in-platform currency systems, ensuring that rewards do not exceed the revenue generated by users. Balance the distribution of rewards while optimising retention.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Use data analysis to identify patterns, assess economic trends, and understand user behaviour. Inform design decisions based on these insights to maintain and increase profitability.
  • Transparency vs. Engagement: Strike a balance between clarity in the reward system and creating a sense of curiosity that motivates deeper user involvement. Ensure transparency where needed, without sacrificing engagement.
  • Scalable Systems: Develop scalable economic models that can evolve as the product expands, including multi-currency and alternative earning mechanisms.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product, development, and marketing teams to align the economic systems with business goals. Communicate complex concepts in a clear, straightforward manner to non-specialist colleagues.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years in economy design, with managing loyalty programs or digital reward systems. Background in mobile apps, gaming, loyalty systems, or related fields like social casino, fintech. crypto, or digital entertainment. Experience with real-money incentive systems is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative skills, including experience with economic modelling, A/B testing, and data analysis. Experience with numerical simulations (e.g., Monte Carlo) and predictive models to forecast changes in player behaviour. Basic to intermediate skills in SQL for data querying and analysis.
  • Economy Design: Proven experience in creating balanced economic systems that drive engagement while maintaining profitability.
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with an ability to think creatively about how to overcome engagement challenges while managing financial constraints.
  • Communication: Ability to explain complex economic systems and concepts clearly to non-experts. Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable with ambiguity and changing priorities. Ability to pivot strategies as user behaviour and business needs evolve.
