About the job

Application Deadline: 29 October 2024

Department: Impact & Charitable Programmes

Location: Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity

Description

The Charity has recently developed a new Patient and Family Experience Funding Strategy, and a key value at the heart of this is to increase the role of patient and family voice in strategic and funding decisions. To help us do this, GOSH Charity is looking to recruit 5-6 lived experience experts - ideally ex-patients and/or family members or carers with experience of NHS paediatric healthcare. These individuals will use their lived experience to help ensure everything we fund has the greatest possible impact for the children of GOSH. People who have experience of being a patient or a patient's family member or carer are experts by experience. We want to empower those with lived experience through meaningful engagement in discussions around quality, service, system improvement and design to help us give seriously ill children the best chance, and the best childhood, possible.

You can find out more about our funding for patient and family experience on our website at https://www.gosh.org/what-we-do/child-and-family-support/

What To Expect

  • You will be part of our network of lived experience experts for up to 12 months in the first instance.
  • Two to three times a year, you will review grant applications by drawing on your lived experience of paediatric healthcare and scoring them based on provided criteria.
  • We anticipate up to 4 hours of your time will be required for reviewing applications for each funding round (2-3 rounds per year), depending on the number of applications received.
  • You will be invited to a meeting to share your thoughts on the applications with other representatives from across the sector.

Meetings will be set well in advance to allow you to plan accordingly.

Meetings will mostly be held virtually. If you are required to attend a meeting in person, this will be held in our London offices, opposite Russell Square Tube station. You will be given notice well in advance and the Charity will cover all associated travel costs and support you in arranging these.
