Home of our product development is the Products & Engineering department, which consists of 14 cross-functional product teams across 3 product domains (Consumer, Business and Platform), working in an agile environment.


At Trusted Shops, we leverage AI and Big Data to deliver actionable insights to our Customers. We’re looking for a passionate Senior Data Engineer (f/m/d) to join our Review Insights Team. If you thrive in a dynamic environment and love building data-driven Products, this role is for you.


You'll collaborate with a cross-functional Team and embrace our "You build it, you own it" mindset, ensuring full Ownership of your work.


Your Key Responsibilities as a Senior Data Engineer (f/m/d):

  • Develop and Maintain Data Pipelines: Build and manage ETL/ELT Pipelines to ensure smooth Data Flow and integration across systems.
  • Optimize Data Models: Design and implement Data Models that are optimized for API retrieval and Frontend Applications.
  • Create Scalable APIs: Develop APIs to provide Frontend Applications with filtered and aggregated Data Efficiently.
  • Architect Data-Intensive Applications: Design Systems capable of processing and handling large-scale Data in a cost-effective way.
  • Ensure Data Quality & Integration: Work with existing Data Integration processes, enhancing the quality and performance of our Data Systems.
  • NLP Integrations: Enhance and implement new Natural Language Processing (NLP) features, leveraging OpenAI Integrations and other state-of-the-art tools.

A Typical Day as a Senior Data Engineer (f/m/d) at Trusted Shops:

  • Start your day by setting up your remote workspace or adjusting your desk at the office.
  • Review your Task Manager and dive into the current stories, from short-term tasks to larger Projects.
  • Join the daily Standup to sync with the Team and align on priorities, reviewing the Backlog or Kanban Board.
  • Work on sprint tasks, whether Coding solo, in Pairs, or in a Mob-Programming Session.
  • Lunch Break: either at Home or by exploring local Restaurants with Colleagues near the Office.
  • Participate in afternoon work Sessions or Meetings, structuring the day based on Team needs.
  • On your Self-Education Day (monthly), focus on personal growth with a self-directed learning agenda and no scheduled Meetings.
  • Wrap up the day with Team-building activities such as Waffle Day or enjoy a drink on the Rooftop Terrace.


Qualifications and Skills we’re looking For:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Extensive Experience in Cloud Environments: Solid background in data engineering within cloud ecosystems, ideally with AWS services like Athena, Glue, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
  • Hands-on with ETL/ELT & Orchestration Frameworks: Experience using orchestration tools such as Luigi, Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster for building and managing data workflows.
  • Proficiency in Data Formats: In-depth understanding of data formats like CSV, JSON, and Parquet, along with strong experience working with typical data interfaces.
  • Data Management & Compliance: Expertise in data lineage, data quality management, observability, and GDPR compliance.
  • Technical Skills: Strong Python and SQL skills; knowledge of Terraform and Bash scripting is a plus.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English is required; German proficiency is a bonus.
