Why does this role exist?

This role exists to strengthen the financial reporting and data analysis capabilities of the Accounting and Operations department. The position will play a crucial role in improving accounting processes, enhancing operational efficiency, and providing valuable insights through SQL-driven data analysis. By bridging the gap between accounting and technology, this role will contribute significantly to the company's growth and decision-making processes.

The Impact you'll make

Financial Reporting and Analysis

• Prepare and analyze financial reports using SQL to extract accurate data
• Design and build SQL queries for ad hoc reporting and performance analysis
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures
  
  

Process Improvement and Automation

• Collaborate on special projects to streamline operations and ensure compliance
• Automate repetitive tasks using SQL for enhanced efficiency
• Develop and implement new processes to improve overall financial operations
  
  

Data Management and Insights

• Ensure accuracy and alignment of financial data across the organization
• Identify trends and insights through SQL-driven data analysis
• Support audit processes by providing relevant reports and data analysis
  
  

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work closely with the Controller and COO on special accounting and reporting projects
• Liaise with stakeholders across departments to ensure data accuracy and relevance
• Communicate financial insights effectively to non-financial team members
  
  

Measure of Success

• Accuracy and timeliness of financial reports and analysis
• Successful implementation of process improvements and automation initiatives
• Quality and relevance of insights derived from data analysis
  
  

Required Experience

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• Proven experience in SQL coding/scripting for financial reporting
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
• Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation
• Experience with ERP systems and e-commerce platforms (e.g., Amazon FBA, Shopify)
