The Role

As the General Manager of Flywheel India, you will hold a senior leadership position, overseeing all product and engineering teams in Bangalore. In addition, you will manage cross-functional teams in the region, including project management and client services. 

With plans to expand our team significantly in the next 24 months, we're seeking a candidate with proven experience in leading a large team (300+ full time employees) as well as scaling product and engineering teams within high-growth organizations. 

In this role, you will drive smooth communication, operational efficiency, and alignment between Flywheel's strategic objectives and our Omnicom Global Solutions team in India. The ideal candidate will be a strong engineering & product leader, possess exceptional problem-solving abilities, cultural sensitivity, and the expertise to lead cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment. 

This role will report to our Chief Product & Technology Office, Flywheel Commerce Network.  

What You Will Do: 

Organizational & Cultural Leadership 

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Flywheel’s global teams and Flywheel India, translating strategic initiatives into actionable plans. 
  • Collaborate and influence across global, cross-functional teams and leadership levels, fostering alignment and shared ownership.  
  • Define and execute the vision for Flywheel India, ensuring alignment with Flywheel organizational goals. 
  • Drive hiring, retention, and team development, fostering a strong company culture that embodies Flywheel values.

Program Delivery & Operations 

  • Own and deliver against performance goals, ensuring high-quality execution across all Bangalore-based teams. 
  • Establish robust project management practices to drive the predictable delivery of complex software products. 
  • Monitor roadmap execution and operational SLAs, ensuring accountability across teams.

Scaling & Capability Building 

  • Build and scale high-performing product & engineering teams, ensuring deep business and client expertise. 
  • Develop a strong leadership pipeline to enhance organizational resilience. 
  • Implement a structured recruitment strategy to attract top talent aligned with Flywheel’s growth needs with local Flywheel team and onshore Flywheel Recruitment team to ensure alignment of recruitment goals, principals and quality

Product & Engineering Leadership 

  • Contribute to the creation and execution of the Flywheel Commerce Network technology strategy that balances long-term innovation with immediate business needs. 
  • Ensure secure, scalable, and efficient use of technical resources, driving technical excellence. 
  • Oversee architecture, engineering, and implementation of resilient, high-performing solutions. 
  • Establish engineering best practices for quality assurance, data protection, disaster recovery, and IT security. 
  • Play an active role in the Flywheel Product Managment community, helping define product management best practices and embedding them into the Bangalore Product Development teams.  
  • Track KPIs and budgets, leveraging data-driven insights to optimize performance. 
  • Communicate technology strategy to internal stakeholders, partners, and investors. 
  • Champion AI-driven solutions and emerging technologies to enhance Flywheel’s offerings. 

Who You Are: 

  • 10–15+ years of progressive product and engineering leadership experience in high-growth, technology-driven organizations. Experience working with global teams is essential. 
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree is a plus. 
  • Proven track record in a senior leadership role overseeing software product development, ideally in eCommerce, AI, or marketplace-driven businesses. 
  • Excellent understanding of Agile methodologies and modern concepts of Engineering teams. 
  • Familiarity with AI technologies and AI-powered product development and implementation. 
  • Strong background in Agile methodologies and modern engineering best practices, with experience scaling engineering teams efficiently. 
  • Track record of applying product management best practices to address client needs. 
  • 5+ years of experience managing budgets and software development resources, ensuring cost-effective and high-impact delivery. 
  • Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team performance, product quality, and operational efficiency. 
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement experience  
  • 5+ years' experience with budgeting and software development resource management 
  • Proven ability to partner and influence across organizations at all leadership levels and across geographies.

The Interview Process:

Every role starts the same, an introductory call with someone from our Talent Acquisition team. We will be looking for company and values-fit as well as your professional experience; there may be some technical role-specific questions during this call.
 
Every role is different after the initial call, but you can expect to meet several people from the team 1:1 and there might be further skill assessments in the form of a Take Home Assignment/Case Study Presentation or Pair Programming/Live Coding exercise depending on the role. In your initial call, we will walk you through exactly what to expect the process to be.
