Join Wärtsilä Voyage, a leading technology company in the Marine and Energy markets, on a journey towards a cleaner, more sustainable future. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us in our mission to transform our business from project based to product based. You will play a critical role in shaping the features, automation, and infrastructure for our products and customer-facing projects. This role offers the opportunity to be a part of a talented team, drive technical innovation, and make a significant impact in the maritime industry.

For this reason, we appreciate a practical touch when applying technologly to business problems. Main drivers for this transformation are needs to scale our business, managing cyber security requirements and optimizing cloud costs. The main KPI for the drivers will be measured against project delivery timelines.

Cyber security has grown to be paramount for the success of our products. We recognize that this field will keep ever evolving and appreciate active participation and continuous improvement around this topic.

We act globally, from Americas to Europe, Singapore and Australia. We're looking for individuals who can work independently when required and are able to communicate asynchronously between sites. In practice, this means excellent communication and documentation skills.
 
Responsibilities:
• Participate and lead in development efforts for Ports products and services.
• Develop new Products, Product increments and Prototypes.
• Participate in the design of software architecture centered around microservices, containerisation and integrations. Work on solutions that will scale and adapt to business needs both on the cloud and on prem.
• Research emerging technologies, industry trends, and methodologies and make proposals of benefits and costs to decision makers and watch as theory become practice.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams through Agile methodologies to design and implement solutions for complex maritime challenges.
• Mentor the organization on development practices, sharing your knowledge and ensure that your own knowledge will propagate throughout the organization.

Required Skills:
• Have 3~ 5 years solid experience with microservices.
• Have 3~ 5 years experience working with cloud solutions.
• Languages: C#, TypeScript, Python
• DB: SQL, TimeSeries
• Front-end frameworks: Angular or React

Additional Information:
• This role is a temporary 12-month position based in Australia. The preferred location is Cairns; however, we are open to remote work arrangements, and the candidate may be based anywhere within Australia.
