JOB SUMMARY:

This is an entry level position for professional work. Mining Intern (Mining Engineer or Geological Engineer) performs a variety of routine tasks, which provide experience in mine design and planning, mine production and stripping operations, heavy equipment management and procurement planning, and mine surveying. The position works closely with an experienced Mine/Quarry Engineer and/or Quarry Manager and will receive specific tasks and assignments.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive):

1. Active involvement with mine surveying activities. 
2. Perform basic functions of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
3. Active involvement with day-to-day mining operations. 
4. Complete all project assignments within established schedule.
5. Possess a good attitude and willingness to learn.
6. Assist with mine design and planning
7. Work alongside Mine Engineer and/or Quarry Engineer to oversee mine production and stripping operations
8. Work with Mine Engineer and/or Quarry Engineer to oversee heavy equipment management responsibilities  

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate Mining and/or Geological Engineering program.
• Computer skills – Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Mine Design software, i.e. Surpac or Carlson.
• Ability to handle multiple projects
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Travel may be required up to 10% per internship period.
• Physical ability to access all plant areas.
• Ability to lift 50lbs.
• Hybrid work ineligible
