CNC Machinist – Day Shift | Gatan, Inc.

At Gatan, Inc., we don’t just make parts—we help power the future of scientific research. We’re looking for an experienced CNC Machinist who thrives on precision, problem-solving, and collaboration. If you’re passionate about machining complex, low-volume parts and want to work in a dynamic R&D environment, we’d love to meet you.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC and manual machines (lathes, mills, grinders, saws, etc.)
  • Work independently to machine parts to tight tolerances (from under 0.06” to 24”)
  • Collaborate with engineers and programmers to improve part machinability and reduce costs
  • Perform first/last piece and in-process inspections
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and suggest improvements
  • Mentor junior machinists and share your expertise
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area (5S standards)

 

What You Bring:

  • 8–10 years of CNC machining experience or equivalent education
  • Completed 4-year apprenticeship or 2-year technical degree in Machine Tool Technology
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills
  • Familiarity with Fanuc and Mazak controls
  • Ability to adapt to different work centers and changing priorities
  • A team-first mindset and strong communication skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Standing and walking throughout the shift
  • Exposure to moderate noise and manufacturing environment
