Job Purpose
Support the plants Wastewater Treatment System, including but not limited to operating and maintaining wastewater primary screening equipment, and pre-treatment equipment.
Essential Functions
- Performs operation and maintenance of full treatment system
- Operate and interpret results for pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity and spectrographic analytical equipment, sampling instruments, and flow instruments in compliance with Dekalb County permit policy.
- Maintain and perform basic maintenance on pumps, motors, aerators, air compressors, pneumatic auxiliaries, belt and chain drive systems, digital and analog controllers and sensors, and electrical components.
- Complete and record maintenance tasks and work orders in a timely manner.
- Manager spare parts inventories accurately, ensure inventories are kept at required levels.
- Maintains wastewater area and equipment in clean and orderly fashion.
- Properly maintain and store equipment and tools when not in use.
- Troubleshooting identifying worn parts & rebuilding machine assemblies, pumps, meters, valves, valve actuators and other equipment.
- Participation in facility maintenance and preventive maintenance programs.
- Safe handling and use of various chemicals with strict adherence to hazardous communication and SDS requirements.
- Transporting totes, drums, and equipment with mobile equipment.
- Performs boiler blow down at the close of every shift.
- Comply with all food safety requirements, training, policies, and procedures
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Competencies)
- High school diploma or equivalent and ability to read, speak and write English so as to assimilate, retain, and apply training and knowledge of job functions and recognize and communicate problems and recognize and communicate problems and solutions.
- Have a minimum of 3+ years of progressive experience as a Wastewater Technician
- Wastewater Level 1 Certification required
- Food manufacturing experience and familiarity
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with multi-level personnel
- Ability to work cross-functionally, convey complex issues
- Ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and maintain high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to think quickly and handle frequent change or problems
- Self-motivated, goal oriented, quality driven, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to train and work on various shifts
