Title: Vice President of Marketing and Communications

Reports to: CEO

Leads: Marketing and Communications 

Supervises: Director of Philanthropy, Marketing Manager, Communications Manager, Creative Services Specialist 

Position: Full-time, Salaried

Location: Hybrid – 3 Days at Leadership Center, Tampa, FL; 2 days remote



POSITION OVERVIEW
The Vice President of Marketing & Communications is a senior leader responsible for integrated marketing, communications, and donor communications & events. As the primary architect of GSWCF’s public image, the VP of MarCom drives brand visibility, storytelling, and donor engagement across an 8-county footprint serving 20,000+ members, volunteers, alumnae, donors, and Lifetime Members. This role blends creativity and strategy to diversify revenue, strengthen donor and sponsor relationships, and inspire more girls and families to join Girl Scouts.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute communications strategies aligned with mission and strategic plan
  • Serve on the senior leadership team, fostering interdepartmental planning and collaboration
  • Create metrics and reporting frameworks to measure impact across communications and donor communications & events
  • Represent GSWCF at the national level through GSUSA committees and projects

Integrated Marketing Communications

  • Lead brand strategy, messaging, and visual identity across all channels
  • Direct digital engagement (website, social, email, advertising) and media outreach
  • Oversee creative services, publications, collateral, and campaign materials
  • Guide crisis communications planning and response
  • Support youth leadership storytelling through the Media Girls program (20+ trained Girl Scouts)
  • Manage vendor partnerships and report communications analytics to the Board

Donor Communications & Engagement

  • Guide donor communications strategies to strengthen individual and corporate giving
  • Oversee stewardship campaigns, donor events, impact reports, and recognition efforts
  • Lead communication strategies and ensure sponsor recognition in major events including Women of Distinction, STEMapalooza, High Awards, Girl Scout Fest, and Annual Meeting

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Recruit, mentor, and retain high-performing staff and volunteers
  • Build a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability across departments
  • Break down silos and foster trust through servant leadership and a growth mindset
  • Model Girl Scout values while promoting continuous learning and professional development

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required (communications, marketing, public relations, nonprofit management, or related field)
  • 10 years progressive leadership in communications
  • Proven track record managing strategic plans, multi-million-dollar budgets, and diverse revenue streams
  • Excellent writing, editing, relationship-building, and crisis management skills
  • Strong analytical abilities and data-driven decision-making
  • Experience motivating staff, volunteers, and community leaders
  • Passion for the Girl Scout mission

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign), Adobe Pro, Canva, and social/ad platforms; CRM experience preferred (Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge)
  • Proficient in AP style writing and editing 
  • Spanish language skills a plus
  • Flexibility for some evenings and weekends
  • Ability to engage in both in-person and virtual environments across diverse settings
