E.O. Smith High School is seeking an enthusiastic, flexible, and collaborative educator to join our English Department for a part-time, temporary position. This assignment requires one month at full-time and then 2-3 months part time (half days).

The E.O. Smith English department is committed to developing an antibias, antiracist curriculum that centers voices from traditionally marginalized populations through a critical literacy pedagogy.

ENGLISH DEPARTMENT PROGRAM GOALS and COURSE LISITNG

QUALIFICATIONS:

Prefers candidate to possess a Connecticut Educator Certificate: English, 7-12 (015).
Possess qualities and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with all stakeholders.
Demonstrate understanding of or have experience in providing culturally relevant instruction.

TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work cooperatively with students, families, and colleagues to develop and revise curricula that includes relevant, engaging, and inclusive instruction and assessments for all students that is based on local, state, and national standards.
Effectively conduct a student-centered classroom.
Provide multiple opportunities and pathways for students to demonstrate mastery of skills and concepts.
Generate and analyze data to inform instruction.
Actively participate in both department and school-wide professional development opportunities and school-sponsored events.

SALARY: Salary range is in alignment with the contract and based upon degree level and experience in accordance with the agreement between the Region 19 Board of Education and the Region 19 Teachers’ Association.
