DF AY24/25 Events Marketing Intern

Job Description:

An ideal candidate must possess excellent communication (written and oral) skills, have the ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions, have the ability to interact professionally, courteously and respectfully with supervisor, peers, employers, students, faculty, and staff.  Must be well organized, reliable, and accurate.

Marketing and Events Intern for the Center for Career and Professional Development.

Essential:  

EVENT MANAGEMENT:

  • Learn to manage all event logistics and assist with the planning and execution of events

  • Attend logistics and design meetings as part of the planning process

  • Research and create event design plans and create table maps

  • Create and follow event budgets and timelines

  • Organize and update event files including event task list and employer contact list

  • Help writing and creating email blasts to students, faculty, and alumni

  • Help with employer outreach (contact employers for contacts, emails, etc.)

  • Update career fair assessments including employer and student surveys prior to each event

  • Attend event walk throughs and assist with event setup and cleanup of career events

  • Assist with day of coordination for scheduled career fair/on-campus events

  • Analyze and compile career fair data and feedback to create reports to distribute to university partners  

  • Intern Project (Option 1): Independently plan, coordinate, and execute an event related to career development, the services offered by the CCPD, or advertising/marketing the CCPD.

SOCIAL MEDIA/MARKETING:

  • Help with enhancing the career center brand and build an online following through our various social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.).

  • Analyze current social media efforts

  •  Create new content and research relevant content to publish to CCPD Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn

  • Assist with social media content that is designed to engage users and create an interactive relationship 

  • Intern Project (Option 2): Create semester-long content calendar to market CCPD events, services, and increase brand awareness

GENERAL OFFICE DUTIES:

  • Assist with scheduling appointments for clients in-person, telephone, or email

  • Communicate to employers via telephone and/or email inquiries

  • Troubleshooting student/employer login issues with Handshake

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with employers, staff/faculty, and peers

  • Knowledge of Graphic design software (preferred: Canva, Photoshop, etc.), diagram software (preferred: Visio), and assessment software (preferred: Qualtrics). 

  • Knowledge of MS Office, MS Word, MS Excel

  • Ability to lift 20 or more pounds and stand on your feet for long periods of time

  • Positive attitude, resourceful nature and an addiction to learning is a must!

  • Able to take initiative and to problem solve quickly

  • Highly organized and detail oriented

  • Excellent multi-tasker

  • Creative and able to think quickly on their feet

  • High energy and resourceful

  • An independent worker as well as a team player

  • Customer service oriented and friendly

  • Driven to excel in the area of events planning and/or social media

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Must be enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate program with a preferred major in Communications, Marketing, Business, or related field. Available at least 8-10 hours per week between the hours of 8:30am-5:00pm and occasional evenings when needed.

Students must be enrolled in an internship course and could be paid through a work study position (if applicable) and will receive 2 credit hours. It's essential that applicants have excellent communication skills, demonstrate creativity, quick thinking, problem-solving, a learning attitude, and understand the importance of attending to even the smallest of details.

Benefits-eligible for workers’ compensation and will receive 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30  hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year

Pay Rate

$18.81/hour
