THE POSITION
The City of Moreno Valley is looking for dedicated and hardworking Laborers to join the Parks & Landscape Services Division. This part-time role plays a vital part in maintaining and enhancing City parks, trails, sports fields, and community spaces. Under the close supervision of the Lead Parks Maintenance Worker, Laborers perform routine grounds maintenance duties, including cleaning park areas and restrooms, preparing athletic fields, operating small power tools and equipment, and ensuring facilities remain safe and well-kept for residents and visitors. This role requires weekend and holiday availability, with occasional weekday shifts as needed. Laborers work alongside skilled maintenance professionals, gaining hands-on experience in park maintenance while directly contributing to the beauty and functionality of Moreno Valley’s outdoor spaces.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is a reliable and motivated individual who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in maintaining community spaces. They are comfortable performing physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and operating landscape maintenance equipment while ensuring parks and facilities remain clean, safe, and inviting for the public. This person thrives in a team-oriented environment, follows instructions with precision, and can work independently when required. Strong attention to detail, a courteous attitude when interacting with the public, and a commitment to providing quality customer service are essential for success in this role. Those with prior experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance are preferred, but individuals eager to learn and contribute to the City's parks and recreational areas are encouraged to apply.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D equivalent; prior experience in landscaping or landscape maintenance work is preferred; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.


ABOUT THE PARKS & COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT
Develop, build and maintain parks, trails and recreational facilities in a safe and aesthetically pleasing manner; maintain recreational open space; provide a wide range of programs for the community including athletic leagues, classes, child care and development, and senior activities; library services and literacy programs; schedule use of facilities; plan, organize and promote community events; and enforce park rules and regulations and promote safe use of park facilities.
