KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Attend Pre-Screen meetings and hold individual deal screens with Commercial Bankers, Market Managers, Regional Managers, Head of Custom Credit, Chief Operating Officer and/or Group Head to jointly discuss the structure, risk and resources.
Works closely with team to navigate deals through the credit approval process. Act as resource for team and Commercial Bankers on LP reviews.
Advise on credit actions related to the existing portfolio (e.g., structure, waivers, modifications).
Ensure past dues, reviews, renewals, and reporting are timely and oversee Commercial Bankers to ensure risk ratings are accurate.
Serve as a liaison with Credit Risk Management.
Provide guidance of the portfolio to oversee the deal through underwriting to approval.
Provide guidance to Commercial Bankers in moving the deal from approval to closing.
Works with deal team members to identify and address bottlenecks/issues with moving a deal through the Credit and Loan Closing process.
Advise Commercial Bankers and Market Managers on portfolio trends to facilitate consistency in deal structuring.
Attend industry events to maintain current market knowledge.
Maintain strong partnerships with other business functions/units (i.e. Commercial, Commercial Real Estate, Asset Management within Private Wealth, cross-sell partners and loan services).

As a key contributor to the business unit, this job has the authority to recommend changes to business processes in order to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
As a manager of people, this job has the authority to assign tasks to employees within their span of control, select individuals for hire, assess individual performance, make employee compensation decisions and take disciplinary measures up to and including termination.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, preferred.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in Commercial Banking as a Commercial Relationship Manager/Portfolio Manager or equivalent.
Ability to prove credit expertise within a specific commercial banking industry or vertical
Formal Credit Training preferred
Supervisory experience an asset
Ability to foster and maintain commercial relationships with high level of competency
Ability to identify risk within credit requests
Proficient in Microsoft Office products with advanced knowledge financial analysis and modeling
Expected to be well versed in all key systems, applications, and models used
On-going learning within the industry to maintain current market knowledge
Completion of Commercial Banking Training Program or equivalent
WORKING CONDITIONS
This role operates within a normal office environment
At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $175,000.00 - $230,000.00 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
