Overview

Join our team as a Video Engineer responsible for ensuring the highest quality of experience (QoE) in video and multimedia services. You will rigorously test, monitor, and analyze video calling services and streaming media in a dynamic lab environment. Your role is crucial in refining our multimedia offerings on mobile platforms and providing insights through detailed reporting and data analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the QA, monitoring, and testing of multimedia services including short-form video and real-time communication on lab testbeds.
  • Evaluate and select testing tools, metrics, and equipment such as Wireshark, VLC Media Player, and FFmpeg to assess multimedia QoE.
  • Design comprehensive test plans and execute them across various mobile operating systems (e.g., Android, iOS), implementing automation for realistic user interaction patterns.
  • Analyze video service performance by evaluating streaming quality, factors causing degradation, encoding/decoding efficiency, and playout/prefetching protocols.
  • Capture key QoE metrics, such as video loading delay and rebuffering events, and normalize these by content complexity.
  • Collaborate with vendors and teams to maintain platform stability and enhance video QoE with testing support and troubleshooting.
  • Synthesize test results into actionable reports and dashboards for stakeholders, using SQL and Python for data extraction and analysis.
  • Manage and operate test devices and automation systems, ensuring continuous operation and swift resolution of any user account or campaign execution issues.
  • Contribute to detailed documentation, including system diagrams, test results, and procedural methods.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficient in evaluating video and multimedia services using tools such as Wireshark, VLC Media Player, FFmpeg.
  • Strong technical knowledge of video codecs and file formats, including H.264/AVC, VP9, and AV1.
  • Expertise in SQL and Python to create scripts for data analysis and report automation.
  • Familiarity with DASH protocol for efficient streaming and real-time communication testing.
  • Hands-on experience with mobile OS platforms, including test automation on Android and iOS.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in video streaming quality assessment and key-quality indicator normalization by video complexity.
  • Advanced skills in synchronizing test results into comprehensive reports and visualization for stakeholders.
  • Prior experience managing a suite of test devices and executing automated benchmarking campaigns.
