Title I Teacher Job Description

All Title I teachers must be highly-qualified, possess a Master’s Degree and/or Level III license, and be endorsed in the areas in which they are providing instruction (ex. Reading and/or Math). The Title I teacher is responsible for creating a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the teacher must work closely with other staff and the administration of the Farmington Municipal School District.

* All Title I teachers must successfully complete the LINK (Literacy Intervention for Kids) course.

Performance Responsibilities:

Act as a liaison for all Title I services.
Provide supplemental research-based instruction to students deemed most in need in reading and/or math based upon approved criteria and assessments.
Collaborate with classroom teachers regarding the Title I program, selection criteria and individual student progress.
Plan and implement appropriate lessons using time, materials and resources effectively.
Review statistical data to facilitate effective instruction.
Offer staff continuing exposure to a variety of materials and approaches for incorporation into their teaching program.
Perform research relevant to the implementation and/or development of new approaches and materials.
Plan and coordinate staff in-service training and assistance as needed to implement the Title I program.
Participate in parent-teacher conferences and provide frequent and timely reports to parents.
Participate in Title I meetings and professional development.
Assist in the yearly planning and evaluation of the Schoolwide Title I program.
Assist in the planning and evaluation of the annual parent involvement plan, policy and compact to effectively involve parents in their child’s education.
Plan and implement parent involvement activities.
Maintain an accurate account of reading/math services provided through individual files/records and data collection.
Complete written documents such as forms, records, lists in a timely matter according to district, state, and federal guidelines (ex. Purchase orders, parent policies, compacts, BARS, surveys, and timesheets)
Maintain Title I documentation notebook according to Title I standards and guidelines.
Provide Title I data pertinent to the completion of the Title I annual evaluation.
Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for Educational Assistants.
Supervise and evaluate Title I Educational Assistants in collaboration with site administrators.
Mentor and support Title I Educational Assistants in order to promote their professional development.
Attend faculty meetings, participate in faculty committees, and sponsor student activities when assigned.
Maintain professional competence through in-service educational activities provided by the school, district, and in self-selected professional growth opportunities.
Perform other duties pertinent to the Title I program as assigned by the principal and/or Title I Director.
Adhere to all local, state and federal guidelines relevant to the Title I program.

Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
Ability to organize and coordinate work.
Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards

Qualifications Profile

Certification/License:

[State] State Certification in the appropriate grade level preferred.

Education

Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
Masters Degree in related area preferred.

Experience
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels a plus.
